Development trusts, arts groups, social enterprises and community initiatives all rely on key skills and experiences of their volunteers. But few have the opportunity to gain new skills or reach out into the community to encourage others to get involved.
Forward Scotland has a Big Lottery funded programme to help make a difference to empower communities to deliver in a more sustainable way.
Over 50 groups, an eclectic mix of community interests from across Scotland have already taken advantage of the opportunity to ‘Sus it Out Plus™’.
With skilled and experienced facilitators Forward Scotland steer groups through an interactive planning exercise that identifies the reasons for success and areas for improvement.
A plan is drafted for the group, a schedule of training developed, and an accompanying £1,500 learning account is made available.
Groups themselves have rated the sessions highly, citing them as being hugely enjoyable and informative with facilitators being praised for their knowledge and helpfulness.
Join the likes of Newlands Community Development Trust, Balerno Village Trust, Creche Matters and the Loud & Proud Choir all with the vision to see that they can make a difference. They are not looking to change what they do but they are committed to changing how they do it.
Forward Scotland says it has scope to take on many more over the next 2 years, delivered through its Stronger Communities collaboration with the Scottish Community Development Centre and Scottish Community Foundation.
If you feel your group could benefit from the experience to formulate your plans in a more social inclusive, environmentally responsible and economically focussed manner then Sus it Out Plus™ is for you.
