20 January 2011
Scottish Ministers have now announced that the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007, commonly referred to as the PVG Scheme, will commence on Monday 28 February 2011.
This is important legislation that will change the way that disclosures (police checks) are processed in Scotland. It will have a major impact on how volunteer-involving organisations process disclosures for volunteers. Central Registered Body in Scotland (CRBS), the voluntary sector arm of Disclosure Scotland, has announced that in preparation for the scheme going live on 28 February, all current Disclosure Scheme applications must be received by Friday 11 February. As a result, Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire will be unable to process disclosures under the current scheme after Friday 4 February 2011.
Preparing Your Organisation for the PVG Scheme Going Live on 28 February
To prepare groups for the new PVG legislation coming in, two free, full-day training sessions have been arranged by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, in partnership with CRBS (voluntary sector arm of Disclosure Scotland). It is very important if your organisation processes Disclosures for volunteers to attend one of these training sessions. These will be held as follows:
PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE GROUPS AWARENESS TRAINING - SOUTH AREA (Lunch provided)
Friday 28 January 2011 | 10.00am-4.00pm | Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire Community Hub (former church building), Kenilworth Avenue, Wishaw, ML2 7LP
PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE GROUPS AWARENESS TRAINING - NORTH AREA (Lunch provided)
Thursday 10 February 2011 | 10.00am-4.00pm | Cornerstone House, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 1 Esk Walk, Town Centre, Cumbernauld, G67 1EW
To book places on either of the above sessions, please email Craig Russell at craig.russell@vanl.co.uk, or telephone on 01698 358866. Places are limited and offered on a first come-first served basis, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
