European Year of Volunteering Launch

2 February 2011

In 2009 the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union officially announced that there would be a European Year of Volunteering in 2011 following a 4 year campaign by Volunteer Development Scotland and its European partners.

A logo for the year has been adopted and a slogan: 'Volunteer! Make a difference'.

The objectives of EYV 2011 are to:

• Work towards an enabling environment for volunteering in the EU
  
• Raise awareness of the value and importance of volunteering
  
• Empower organisers of voluntary activities to improve the quality of voluntary activities
  
• Recognise voluntary activities

VANL is holding a Volunteer Fair as part of the European Year of Volunteering (EYV2011) in North Lanarkshire.

The event will be held in the Community Hub in Kenilworth Avenue, Wishaw on Wednesday 9th February from 10am - 12noon.
