The information resource on North Lanarkshire’s third sector, providing up-to-date information, research and intelligence on the sector.
The initial work establishing Infobase North Lanarkshire was funded by NHS Lanarkshire and NLP, and managed by CVS North Lanarkshire. Over an eight-month period in 2008/09, over 500 third sector organisations were individually interviewed to complete a detailed questionnaire on everything from their aims and objectives to funding and finance.
Based on a similar initiative in Glasgow, Infobase provides a clear picture of the size and scope of the sector in North Lanarkshire, and is a baseline for quality research on the sector’s needs and concerns.
Since the merger of the two existing third sector support agencies in April 2010, Infobase North Lanarkshire is managed and maintained by VANL.
Up-to-date and accurate general information on each organisation can be accessed by visiting the Infobase website, and bespoke reports can be prepared on the broader dataset. A series of briefing papers will also be published, drawing on the information, and will be downloadable from the Infobase website.

The site is simple and easy to use, and it is possible to run searches in a number of ways, including alphabetical, area of activity and geographic placement. This is ideal for staff and volunteers at organisations looking to work in partnership or refer service users elsewhere.

Some of the reports we've dealt with to date range from simple targeted contact lists (e.g. youth groups in Cumbernauld), to more in-depth research based on voluntary sector provision in SIMD areas.
