VANL Information Refresh 2011

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire is currently carrying out a major initiative to update the contact details held for local voluntary organisations on its three main databases:

• The VANL membership and mailing database contains contact details and membership information on organisations in the local third sector
• Infobase North Lanarkshire is VANL’s information resource on the area’s third sector. Detailed information on a comprehensive range of issues was gathered through individual interviews with hundreds of local organisations
• Vbay is the national volunteering database, on which VANL holds data on all third sector, statutory and private organisations involved in volunteering in North Lanarkshire

Over the next three months, staff from VANL will be contacting all of the organisations we work with to ensure relevant information is correct, up-to-date and consistent across VANL’s operational datasets.

This information-refreshing initiative will feed in to the ongoing work to ensure VANL joins up its services to ensure we are effectively representing and serving our members and the wider third sector in North Lanarkshire.

The information refresh will also ensure that VANL is well-placed to link in to the forthcoming Scotland-wide Milo database from Supporting Voluntary Action’s Managing Intelligence strand.
