Community Action Lanarkshire (CAL) is a project supported by the Rural Development Trust and funded by Lanarkshire LEADER until June 2020. From community-led action planning to support for project development and help with delivering projects, the team have the time and experience to give you FREE hands on support to help you improve your community.
This year, Community Action Lanarkshire has formed, and worked intensively with, community Steering Groups in Upperton, Caldercruix, Greengairs, Plains and Harthill to produce 5 year community-led action plans. Household surveys, community drop ins and school workshops were held to ensure that the plans reflect the views of as many local people as possible. They highlight how local people would like to see their communities change and improve into the future and identify key projects that can be taken forward. The plans are evidence of the needs and wishes of the communities so can be used by communities seeking funding for projects or by decision makers looking to change or develop a new service affecting that village.
In addition to local launches in each village, the action plans will be presented at the next round of Community Matters events, scheduled for October, and will be available on local community pages and www.communityactionlan.org. CAL will continue to support communities to deliver projects and are available to work in Shotts, Allanton, Harthill, Plains, Caldercruix, Upperton, Longriggend and Greengairs.
