Coronavirus Crisis and Climate Change - community views event

Thursday 16th July 1pm to 2.30pm

Virtually via Zoom

The Scottish Parliament Community Outreach Team hosted by VANL invite you to a virtual community meeting to inform the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee about a “green recovery”.

Who is this event for?

Not a green “activist”?  You’re exactly who we want to speak to!  VANL have told us you are a community based organisation who have been vital to the response to COVID-19.

What is a Green Recovery?

How do we recover and respond to COVID-19 in a way that is both equal and just but in a way that means we look after our environment too?

What will we discuss?

What does the impact of Covid-19 mean for you and the communities that you support?  How can we recover economically and address Climate Change and ensure that we live in a just and equal society?

The Scottish Government needs to make big societal changes to meet environmental targets. This will impact everything about our lives. The food we eat and produce, our travel, our jobs and how we heat our houses. We want to know what you think about this.

What happens after the event?

Your experiences and views will be gathered as evidence and will help to inform the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform (ECCLR) Committee inquiry into a Green Recovery and to help them question the Scottish Government.

Postcard Consultation

We are also looking for involvement from befriending groups, peer support groups, young people’s mentoring projects who might be interested in getting involved in our postcard consultation.   We want to ask 3 simple questions about a Green Recovery to individuals adversely impacted by Covid.

Please let us know if you are interested – we have some great ideas!
