Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Services Volunteer

Macmillan in Lanarkshire are currently looking for volunteers to support their Cancer Information and Support Service. This role is based within libraries and community venues, offering a listening ear to people affected by cancer and signposting them to other services such as financial advice, physical activity, complementary therapies or counselling services. Volunteers are required across Lanarkshire but especially within the Bellshill and Coatbridge areas.

Activities will include meeting and greeting people, providing a warm welcome to the Macmillan service, providing a friendly, listening ear, supporting people on a one-to-one basis depending on their individual needs, making direct referrals to appropriate agencies and explaining the resources and services available in Lanarkshire and beyond.  No previous experience is required to volunteer for this role as full training will be provided.

If you have good listening skills and a non-judgemental, open, warm and friendly manner, MacMillan would love to hear from you. Please register your interest by contacting Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire on Tel: 01236 748011 /

Macmillan believes that no-one in Lanarkshire should face cancer alone.
