Monthly Funding Round Up - July 2018

Below is our monthly funding round up of grant funding for the third sector in North Lanarkshire:

Ironmongers Company

Next Application Deadline: 31st July 2018

The Ironmongers’ Company wishes to support projects that provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people to fulfil their potential.

Grants are only given to registered charities. Projects must meet all of the following criteria:

  • For children and young people under the age of 25 who are disadvantaged
  • Consist of educational activities that develop learning, motivation and skills
  • Have clear aims and objectives to be met within a planned timescale
  • Are within the UK

Grants range from a few hundred pounds up to around £10,000. The average grant awarded is £4,000.

The Bairdwatson Trust

Next Application Deadline: 24th August 2018

The Bairdwatson Charitable Trust provides grants to registered charities in Scotland for work relating to training for employment, employment support and vocational skills.  It is particularly interested in employment and skills training for young people who are unemployed, and in re-training and support for unemployed people to get them back into work. The Trust may also fund organisations which are not registered charities but which carry out charitable work. These might include social enterprises and similar community organisations.

Your organisation should be involved in education or training for employment, re-training, supporting people into work, and vocational training, especially for young people. Preference will be given to organisations which can demonstrate a connection to the communities of Ayr or Airdrie in Scotland and West Bengal, particularly Darjeeling, in India.

The Robertson Trust – Changing Lives through Sports and Physical Activity Fund

Next Application Deadline: 28th August 2018 (5pm)

This £1million Fund is open for applications from Scottish organisations seeking to change lives through sport and physical activity, and evidence the impact of their interventions on individuals and groups.  

At least 14 grants of between £30,000 and £70,000 will be awarded to two-year projects that meet the Fund's key criteria and deliver on the four positive change themes:

  • Sport for Inclusion
  • Sport for Health and Wellbeing
  • Sport for Skills
  • Sport for Communities

Successful projects will demonstrate how they can deliver positive change through sport and physical activity, and support people to become and stay active.

Weir Charitable Trust

Next Application Deadline: 31st August 2018 (5pm)

The Weir Charitable Trust aims to support Scottish-based community groups and small charities to provide services across Scotland to help the Scottish community. These groups and charities are likely to have found it difficult to access funds elsewhere.

The Trust will consider funding specific activities and services in sport, recreational facilities, animal welfare, health and cultural projects to improve the quality of life for people, either through a particular field of expertise or via a local community. The average award granted to date is £3,500 but, in exceptional circumstancesthe Trust will consider applications for funds up to £25,000.
