Participatory Budgeting in North Lanarkshire

North Lanarkshire Council has piloted participatory budgeting in autumn/winter 2019 in the Motherwell and Wishaw & Shotts locality areas.  Participatory Budgeting (PB) allows residents in local communities to vote for investment in their priority local projects.  In Harthill for example, £160,000 will be spent in building an outdoor gym and multi-use games area following community votes on local spending in the Shotts and Wishaw locality which Harthill is part of. Other projects that will be funded include: Newarthill Welfare Park – dog walking area, Newarthill – safe walking routes, a new play park in New Stevenston and Craigneuk – Community Garden.
