The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector

The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector

The Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector was officially launched at the Trustees week Heroes Journey event in Glasgow on 12th November. The code was developed by Scotland’s Third Sector Governance Forum, which is made up of individuals and organisations with knowledge and expertise in governance issues.

The code sets out the core principles and key elements of good governance for all third sector organisations regardless of their size and legal structure. The 5 core principles are: Organisational Purpose, Leadership, Board Behaviour, Control and Effectiveness.

VANL will be promoting the code in a series of workshops in late January and early February 2019, (details to follow).  The code is for all third sector organisations and VANL Organisational Development Team will be promoting it extensively to the third sector to ensure organisations are aware of the importance of good governance.

Further details on the Governance Code can be found on the Governance Forum’s website.  https://scotlandsgovernanceforumblog.wordpress.com/governance-code/
