This free event was open to Chairs and Trustees of Third Sector Boards in Lanarkshire (primarily from social enterprises) and was co-ordinated and facilitated by the Lanarkshire Social Enterprise Partnership which includes representation from North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire and Business Gateway.
The event explored the impact on sustainability and growth by having the right skills mix at Board level. In a first for Lanarkshire, this event pulled together expertise and advice from across a range of national providers (TSI’s, Senscot Legal, Voluntary Action Fund, Edinburgh University and ACOSVO) to help participants navigate through the complex landscape of finding new Board members.
The aim of the event was to equip attendees with a better understanding of the benefits of taking a process driven and planned approach to Board Member recruitment. The content was aimed at helping organisations identify skills gaps early in the process and share best practice on how to address these. The event was chaired by David Reid (SLC) and workshops were delivered by SENSCOT Legal and Organisational Development team members from both VANL (Sharon Bissett, pictured) and VASLan (Stuart Reilly) and feedback from the event indicated that it was a great success.
If you would like support or assistance with governance or board recruitment VANL’s Organisational Development team are available. Please get in touch with Sharon Bissett at firstname.lastname@example.org with any enquiries.
