Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund – Phase 2 open for applications

The Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, an important, new funding initiative for community and voluntary sector (CVS) in North Lanarkshire, was launched in late 2021. Funding is from the Scottish Government and is being managed by VANL, as part of the Health and Social Care NL Community Solutions Programme, which VANL hosts. In Phase 1 of the Fund, a total of £1.6m was distributed

The purpose of the fund is to contribute to:

  • improved mental health and wellbeing
  • reduction in mental health inequalities
  • reduction in stigma around mental health and illness

for “at risk” groups in North Lanarkshire through community-based support provided by the community and voluntary sector (CVS).

Applications are now being sought for Phase 2 of the Fund. In Phase 2 of the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund, there are 2 separate funding streams.

Existing Projects

Projects which are currently in receipt of funding from Phase 1 can apply for a total of £10k - £50k in order to do one or both of the following:

  • Continue their currently funded project beyond its previously agreed end date, with proposed activities delivered for between six and twelve months between 1st April 2023 and March 31st 2024. Consortium applications will also be considered but the above amounts of £10 - £50k will still apply.

and/or

    • Further develop their project’s work as a result of identified learning and/or relevant stakeholder feedback. Activities will be delivered for between six and twelve months between 1st April 2023 and March 31st 2024.

New Projects

CVS organisation serving at risk groups in North Lanarkshire can apply for between £10k-50k for projects providing mental health and wellbeing support to one or more of the priority groups laid out in A.1.2

New projects will be delivered for between six and twelve months between 1st April 2023 and March 31st 2024. Consortium applications will also be considered but the above amounts of up to £50k will still apply.

A.2.1.4 Equalities (BAME and LGTBi+)

In order to help address existing gaps in provision, applications for £10k-50k are also sought from CVS organisations seeking to provide capacity building and/or service provision to improve mental health support specifically for the BAME and LGTBi+ communities.

Equalities projects will be delivered for between six and twelve months between 1st April 2023 and March 31st 2024. Consortium applications will also be considered but the above amounts of up to £10k-50k will still apply.

Any CVS organisation serving at risk groups in North Lanarkshire can apply, although priority will be given to smaller, community-based organisations. Please note that organisations can apply for funding for one or more projects, with a separate application for each project
