The Conference, which will take place on Friday 3 June 2016 at Newmains Community Trust Centre near Wishaw, provides a valuable annual networking and information sharing opportunity for local volunteers, voluntary sector organisations, and other key partners in the community.
Hosted by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire on behalf of North Lanarkshire Partnership, this year's Conference will explore how the local voluntary sector can positively impact communities in the future for the advancement of community safety, health and wellbeing, lifelong learning, regeneration and joint-resourcing.
June Vallance, Chair of North Lanarkshire Voluntary Sector Partnership Group and Third Sector Representative on North Lanarkshire Partnership Board, will open the Conference, with a number of invited guest speakers, including Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire CEO Kenny Moffat (pictured above), scheduled to address the audience on the day.
The Conference will also incorporate funding workshops, a presentation of Volunteer Friendly Awards to 11 local organisations who evidenced excellent practice in involving volunteers during 2015-16, a question and answer session with an esteemed panel of guests, and a buffet lunch.
Furthermore, it is expected that confirmation of the elected Third Sector Representative to North Lanarkshire Partnership Board for the period 2016-18 will be made at the Conference, with Francis Fallan MBE and Alex Clark standing for appointment.
As well as participating in the Conference’s interesting and informative agenda, attending delegates will also have the opportunity to sample an event in the new modern multi-purpose Newmains Community Trust Centre, which opened in 2015 following significant voluntary sector leadership and development. Indeed, the facility provides an excellent showcase of what can be achieved by the voluntary sector in locality areas with the relevant endeavour and support.
Further information relating to the Conference agenda will be circulated over the coming weeks.
