As part of the Population Health Framework, the Scottish Government are developing a national social prescribing framework to help make sure more people can benefit from good quality social prescribing wherever they live and whatever their circumstances.
VANL have been commissioned as one of five TSIs to hold two engagement events with community organisations and community link worker services in North Lanarkshire to feed into the framework. The purpose of this engagement is to explore three themes in more detail with local delivery organisations:
· The Person: Everyone should have a fair opportunity to access a “connector” who offers social prescribing support that improves their health and wellbeing, regardless of their circumstances, where they live or how they enter the system.
· The Workforce: Scoping what is needed to strengthen the skills, confidence, and wellbeing of everyone involved in delivering social prescribing.
· The System: Scoping what local organisations need to work effectively together.
The Events
We are hosting two events following the Locality Network Events for Bellshill & Motherwell, and Cumbernauld, Northern Corridor, and Kilsyth. (Click each to register.)
· Tuesday 27th October 1pm-3pm, Church of God, Parkburn Road, Kilsyth, G65 9DG

We are looking to invite ‘connectors’ to this event – trusted professionals who have a “what matters to you” style conversation and helps someone find and access non-medical support in their area. This includes:
· Link workers, community connectors or similar roles employed outside the NHS
· Specialist link workers
· NHS community link workers

Participants should have experience and knowledge of:
· Supporting people affected by health inequalities and who experience poorer health and wellbeing
· Addressing the building blocks of health
· Tackling social isolation and loneliness
· Delivering activities and support that can improve wellbeing and keep people well across different life stages
· Working locally in partnership across the public and voluntary sectors
