Senior Employability Development Officer  

Role Title:              Senior Employability Development Officer       
Weekly Hours        35 Hours per week
Status/Duration     12 months initially, with prospect of extension or permanency
Remuneration        £29,000 – £32,000(depending on experience and current/previous salary)
Probation:              Three months
Location                 Blended working between home, VANL office and community venues in North Lanarkshire

Offer letter and contract provide full terms and conditions.

4.1.2 Mapping CVS employability provision in North Lanarkshire, ensuring information is shared via A Local Information System for Scotland (ALISS) and is also stored on VANL’s CONNECT NL database.

4.1.3 Keeping informed about relevant local and national employability policy developments and funding opportunities.

4.1.4 Supporting communications with the CVS on employability issues including co-ordinating preparation of VANL’s quarterly Community Wealth Building bulletin and preparing accurate and informative content for VANL’s website and social media.

4.1.5 Coordinating and supporting the NL CVS Employability Network.

4.1.6 Creating and supporting a new support forum for organisations funded through the NL LEP.

4.1.7 Represent the CVS and participate in local decision making around employability, including contributing to scoring panels for grant awards. 

4.1.8 Supporting the CVS to evaluate and share information about its contribution to employability in North Lanarkshire.

4.1.9 Planning and organising employability CVS events in NL as required.

4.10 Provide a coordinating role and administrative support for the North Lanarkshire Local Employability Partnership.

 4.11. Any other duties relevant to the role and as agreed with line manager.

5.1 Educational Attainment    
5.1.1 Educated to degree level in a relevant subject.   x
5.1.2 A commitment to ongoing learning.    x
5.2 Values, attitudes, and knowledge    
5.2.1 Have a good understanding of the employability landscape in Scotland and North Lanarkshire – or demonstrable ability to develop this quickly. x 
5.2.2 Commitment to and understanding of the mission and values of VANL or a willingness to develop these.  x 
5.2.3 A genuine interest in and knowledge of the community and voluntary sector or a commitment to develop this.  x 
5.2.4 Commitment to making a positive contribution to residents and communities in North Lanarkshire.  x 
5.2.5 A positive and “can do” attitude with a willingness to reflect, learn and improve.  x 
5.3 Skills and Qualities and Experience    
5.3.1 At least 2 years’ experience [MH9] [MT10] of working in the employability or similar field – preferably in the community and voluntary sector.    x 
5.3.2 Excellent organisational and administrative skills  x   
5.3.3 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.x   
5.3.4 Able to capture, analyse and report on data and information.  x   
5.3.5 Able to plan and manage work independently and well to deliver good-quality outputs to schedule.  x 
5.3.6 Able to problem-solve and approach challenges constructively and know when to ask for support and guidance.  x 
5.3.7 Able to work well with internal and external colleagues. This includes working with partners, organisations within the community & voluntary sector and the private sector.  x 
5.3.8 Able to use ICT effectively.    x 
5.3.9 Able to line manage staff and volunteers effectively, or a willingness to develop this capability should the role develop.  x
