People are increasingly volunteering on green issues to support an improved natural environment and support action on the climate emergency. Green volunteering also supports physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Green volunteering opportunities are diverse and include:
Conservation – such as tree-planting, protection of native plants and animals
Community gardens including food growing
Supporting community learning on on green and climate issues
Guided walks in nature
Providing energy advice
Refurbishing products for reuse such as furniture, tools and more
VANL promotes green volunteering in North Lanarkshire as:
- Host and facilitator of the Action on Climate Together North Lanarkshire initiative – ACT Now NL – and its Green Wellbeing Project
- As an active member of the Lanarkshire Green Health Partnership.
